Narrative Group B Group 7

The group got together to decide how we are to present our narrative story to the group on Thursday. We decided to bring our research together and meet at the library tomorrow at 1.00 p.m. to collaborate our work and ideas for the presentation.

SPP LECTURE 1 30/10/06

2.00 p.m. Introduction to Aesthetics
We were introduced to the philosophy of beauty and art and how the percpetion of philosophers change of time. We were shown the ideas of philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle, Kant and Tolstoy. Also how artists such as Picasso and the Dadaists were trying to change the perception of art. Examples of Kanchinsky, Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol works start to question the perception of recent modern art. We then question the reasons for our own perceptions, is it nature or nurture? is it emotional or not? is it cultural conditioning that decide what perceptions we have. I found lecture very intresting and thought provoking. In the end we are left to "question why your doing things."

9.00 a.m. (lecture 2) Interpreting Photography
In this lecture we were shown clips of various films that showed composition, movement, lighting, colour, sound and quality. We were shown how different shot sizes are interpreted by the viewer and how these shots are used to introduce characters.

2.00 p.m. (seminar 2)
We were given a video camera to experiment, manually changing the aperture, shutter speed and light balance. In groups of three we experimented with the camera outside and changing the settings to see what would happen. I enjoyed the experience of experimenting with the video camera and feel more comfortable using it

Check out this cool website. It has a good interactive narrative animation that keeps the audience entertained and half the fun is trying to navigate your way round the website.

Interactive Narrative

10.00 a.m. Today we started to learn how to use Dreamweaver MX. We used the javascript that we learnt last week. I think that the seminar was intresting and enjoyed using a new programs.

15.00 p.m. In this lecture I was given an assignment to produce a series of still photographs focusing on the subject 'My Place'. It has to be somewhere that is personal to me. We are allowed to concentrate on a theme if desired.

SPP LECTURE 1 23/10/06

14.00-15.00 Yesterday we had a lecture on the process of multimedia. We were shown a project cycle and the production crew needed to manage a multimedia task. We were also shown the comparison of multimedia origins and the three key areas of multimedia - schedule, budget and resources. These areas breakdown into a pyramid of time, cost and quality which have to be balanced carefully.

16.00-18.00 We had to shot a 45 sec film (no longer) on one of the follow subjects:
1. lose something deliberately
2. victory small importantly gained
3. temporary manage to take the pain away
4. find an ally.

We chose subject 1. and had to include the following camera shots:
2 close ups
2 MCU
1 wide shot
1 POV

We did a 35 second narrative of a person dropping litter and a bypasser making this person put the litter in the bin. I think that it worked really well because it was simple and straight forward.

Group B Meeting

9.00 a.m. I had a seminar involving group b. We were presenting our narrative story about a tramp that won the lottery that we worked on last week. We discussed and evaluated our process of working and how we achieved our final outcome.

Task-Is there a process where everyone can contribute?

We split into 2 groups. A large(9+) and small(5) group to see how we approach the task.

We decided to research individually and arranged to meet in the library on Friday at 11 a.m.+
feedback on what we have gathered.
